We cut this two piece lounge set from a thin, non-stretch cotton weave with horizontal navy and white stripes. The top features a round crew neck and cap sleeves, finished with a discreet side zipper. Below, the matching shorts sit on an adjustable corded waistband with deep slash pockets.

What went into it

The details we cut in

Top cut and neckline

The top is patterned with clean horizontal bands across a classic round crew neck. Short cap sleeves sit close to the shoulder, while a hidden side zipper allows the straight hem to pull on easily without stretch.

Waistband and shorts

The shorts are cut loose through the thigh and gather at the waist with an encased drawstring. We added two angled slash pockets at the hips, stitched flat so the front panels lie smooth against the body.

Woven cotton fabric

We chose a thin cotton cloth with a dry hand and zero stretch. The woven structure holds the striped pattern crisp and straight, allowing air through the weave while keeping the set lightweight for warm days.

Care and maintenance

Machine wash cold with similar colors using a mesh laundry bag to protect the hidden zipper and drawstring. Hang on a line or drying rack to dry naturally. Avoid bleach to preserve the deep navy dye.
