We knit this short cardigan with a heavy gauge yarn in a deep army green. The cut is broad through the body with low shoulder seams, balancing the cropped hemline with full, slouchy sleeves. Button it up or wear the front open over lighter layers.

The details we cut in
Chunky ribbed knit
We chose a medium-weight knit with a visible vertical rib. The yarn has enough spring to hold its shape across the shoulders while keeping a soft drape through the body.
Dropped shoulder seam
The shoulder seam falls well below the natural shoulder line. This gives the long sleeves extra room through the upper arm and creates a relaxed, boxy drape.
Cropped hemline
The hem is finished with a wide knit band that sits above the hips. It pairs cleanly with high-rise trousers, skirts, or pulled over long woven tunics.
Care and drying
Hand wash or machine wash in cold water without bleach. Lay the sweater flat on a clean towel to dry so the heavy knit does not stretch out.
