We cut this short jacket with the proportions of a cropped windbreaker and the details of a light trench. The brown shell has a clean drape and fastens up through a high collar with a front zip behind a protective flap. Elastic gathers the wrists, while the waist hem rests above the hip.

The details we cut in
Front zipper and flap
A full-length front zipper runs straight to the top of the high collar. We set a wide storm flap over the teeth to block drafts and keep the front line smooth when fastened.
Sleeve and cuff
The sleeves are cut loose through the arm for easy layering over knitwear. Elastic gathers each cuff so the fabric stays put at the wrist without trailing.
Cropped hem
We cut the bottom hem short to sit above the hip line. The boxy shape balances high-waisted trousers and skirts without bunching at the seat.
Fabric and care
