We cut these sweatpants from a brushed cotton-poly fleece knit with weight through the leg. The elastic waistband pulls on and adjusts with an outer cord, while the leg eases out past the knee toward a wide lower hem. Two inset side pockets sit along the hip seams.

The details we cut in
Flared lower hem
The leg is cut straight through the thigh and widens from the knee downward. This extra width at the hem balances the heavier fleece and allows the hem to drape cleanly over shoes.
Waistband and cord
A gathered elastic casing sits flat across the waist and stretches for quick pull-on wear. We ran an exterior drawstring through the front channel so the fit can be tied tighter as needed.
Side pockets
Two slash pockets sit built into the side seams below the waistband. They lie flat against the fleece when empty and hold small daily carry items without pulling the waist down.
Brushed fleece care
The cotton and polyester blend has a soft brushed face on the inside that retains its loft. Wash on a cold cycle with similar dark colours and tumble dry on a low setting.
