We cut these trousers from a cotton-rich denim with built-in stretch so the cloth stays true through the knee and hip. The straight leg drops clear down to a cropped lower edge that leaves the ankles open. Red and white vertical stripes run from the waistband straight to the hem.

Cut and rise
The high waistband sits securely at the natural waist with a standard metal shank button and zip fly. A flat front keeps the waist neat under untucked tops.
Leg and hem
We gave the legs a wide straight cut that falls cleanly from the hip. The lower hem stops well short of the shoes, finished with a firm topstitched turn-up.
Four deep pockets
Two rounded slash pockets sit at the front waist, cut deep enough to hold a telephone. Two patch pockets on the rear match the vertical stripe alignment across the seat.
Wash and care
Machine wash cold inside out with similar colors to preserve the red yarn. Tumble dry on a low setting or hang by the hems to dry naturally.
