We cut this two-piece set for warm weather around the house and light travel. The top falls straight through the torso with short capped sleeves and a single patch chest pocket. Below, the matching shorts rest on an elasticated waistband with a flat drawstring cord.

What went into it

The details we cut in

Cap sleeve and neck

The top uses a crew neckline finished with self-fabric binding that lies flat against the collarbone. We set the cap sleeves short across the shoulder edge, leaving the arms fully free while keeping the seams neat and reinforced.

Drawstring waistband

The shorts are built around a wide gathered elastic band that stays flat on the waist. We run an adjustable cord through the channel so you can reset the tension before you step out, paired with deep side pockets.

Chest pocket detail

We added a single square patch pocket on the left chest of the top. It breaks up the plain knit front and gives a practical spot for small paper receipts, keys, or cards during travel.

Knit fabric and care

The black knit is lightweight, soft to the touch, and resists creasing out of a packed bag. Wash the two pieces in cool water on a gentle cycle, then hang them on a line or lay flat to dry.
