We knit this cropped shrug with an open front and a short sleeve that sits off the shoulder without binding. The lightweight grey yarn keeps the layers underneath visible while adding a clean finish to the neckline and arm. It folds flat to pack into a bag.

What went into it
The details we cut in
Open front cut
We left the front unfastened so the shrug hangs straight down each side without pulling. The cropped hem stops just below the ribcage to work over slip dresses, tanks, and high waistbands.
Short knit sleeves
The set-in short sleeves are cut with enough ease through the bicep to sit smoothly over shoulder straps. Ribbed finishing at the sleeve openings keeps the edges from rolling after washing.
Lightweight grey knit
The gauge is fine and airy, giving the sweater a clean drape that does not add bulk across the back. In grey, the knit shows off the stitch texture without competing with prints beneath it.
Care and washing
Place the sweater in a mesh laundry bag before machine washing on a gentle cycle. Wash in cold water without bleach and lay it flat to dry so the knit retains its original shape.
