We knit this vest with a loose gauge in black with contrast horizontal stripes. The cut features cap sleeves that sit slightly past the shoulder point and a deep V-neck that fastens with buttons down the front. Ribbed trim finishes the front placket, armholes, and bottom hem.

What went into it
The details we cut in
Neckline and front placket
The front plunges into an open V-neck that flows into a ribbed button placket. The buttons allow the front to hang open over a base layer or fasten flat across the chest.
Shoulder and cap sleeves
We shaped the shoulder line to drop slightly, creating short cap sleeves that cover the top of the arm. Ribbed binding reinforces the armholes so the knit keeps its shape during wear.
Patch pockets and hem
Two low patch pockets are set into the front body to hold small items. The straight hem is finished with wide ribbing that lets the vest sit comfortably over trousers or skirts.
Care and laundering
Wash on a gentle cycle in cold water using a mesh laundry bag, or wash by hand. Lay the vest flat to dry so the knit retains its length and block, and use a low iron if needed.
