We knit this sleeveless layer with a close mock collar and a straight torso that fits over collared shirts without bunching. The wrap front panel adds depth, while the open side splits give room over trousers and skirts. It holds a clean line under jackets.

The details we cut in
Mock neck collar
We cut the collar to stand upright without folding over or sagging. It sits close along the throat, keeping cold air off your neck while leaving room beneath for the collar of an underlying button-down.
Side split hem
The lower edge is vented at both sides. These slits keep the straight hem from pulling or catching across the hips when you sit, and they let a crisp shirt-tail hang through cleanly.
Woolen knit fabric
We chose a medium-weight knit with a smooth surface and enough body to hold its rectangular shape. The black yarn gives a uniform finish that does not pill quickly under layered coat sleeves.
Laundering and care
Hand wash in cold water or place it inside a mesh garment bag on a gentle machine cycle. Reshape the wrap front while damp and lay the vest flat on a drying rack.
