We cut this two-piece set for warm days at home. The top has a crew neckline and dropped shoulders, paired with loose-leg shorts anchored by an encased elastic band. The woven blue stripe runs vertically along both pieces to match the straight fall of the fabric.

What went into it

The details we cut in

Top and sleeve cut

The short-sleeve top falls loose through the torso with dropped shoulder seams and a bound round neckline. The hem hangs straight across the hips to leave room for movement.

Waistband and pockets

We anchored the shorts with an elasticated waistband that pulls on without hardware. Deep patch pockets sit flat against the side seams so small items do not pull the rise out of line.

Blue stripe fabric

The lightweight woven cloth is printed with narrow blue stripes that align along the vertical grain. It breathes well in warm weather and holds its drape without clinging.

Washing and care

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle in a mesh laundry bag, or wash by hand. Hang on a line to dry and avoid bleach to preserve the blue print.
