We cut this base layer from a smooth stretch knit with a brushed fleece back that holds warmth close to the body. The scoop neck sits wide on the collarbone and carries a flat lace edge, while the sleeves follow the arm down to a clean wrist. It sits flat under heavy knits and winter jackets.

The details we cut in
Scoop neck and lace
A wide scoop collar leaves the throat open and carries a narrow band of lace stitched flat along the edge. The trim lies smooth against the chest so it will not bunch under an overshirt or cardigan.
Fleece-backed stretch knit
The outer face is a smooth, fine knit that lets outer layers glide over it without catching. Inside, we brushed the yarn into a soft fleece loft that traps air against the body without adding bulk at the shoulders.
Set-in long sleeve
We set the sleeve close at the armhole and tapered the cut through the forearm to the wrist. The cuff finishes with a flat double-needle hem that tucks neatly into a glove or coat sleeve.
Cold water care
Wash this knit in cold water on a gentle cycle and skip the bleach. Avoid leaving the top to soak for long periods, then dry flat away from direct heat to keep the stretch recovery intact.
