We cut this short jacket with the structure of a classic trench and the ease of a hip-length layer. The smooth shell sits over a woven plaid lining that shows when the collar turns down. A button placket closes the front straight to the hem, and side pockets sit right at the seam.

The details we cut in
Plaid body lining
The interior is fully backed with a woven plaid fabric that adds weight without bulk. It peeks out along the turn of the contrast collar and keeps the jacket sliding smoothly over sweaters or light shirts.
Hip-length cut
We shaped the hem to hit at the hip rather than the knee. The body has gentle side-seam shaping for structure, leaving enough room across the back and shoulders for everyday layering.
Button placket closure
A row of centered buttons fastens the front from the waist to the collar. You can wear it fastened straight up against a cool breeze or left undone so the front panels fall flat.
Cold water wash
Machine wash on a gentle cycle with cold water and hang it on a shaped hanger to dry. A quick pass with a warm iron or steamer settles the cotton-like shell after laundering.
