We cut this sleeveless sweater with a shallow V-neck and short cap shoulders that sit just past the armhole. The knit is lightweight with a contrast stripe across the body, fastened down the center with matching buttons. Ribbing finishes the placket, armholes, and straight hem.

What went into it
The details we cut in
V-neck and button placket
A clean V-neck leads into a full button front trimmed with narrow ribbing. The buttons fasten securely, allowing you to wear the vest closed on bare shoulders or open over a thin base layer.
Cap shoulder and armholes
Instead of a bare armhole, we extended the shoulder slightly into a soft cap. The edges are bound with fine knit ribbing so the armhole holds its line without stretching out through the day.
Front pockets and striping
Two small patch pockets sit near the front hem, knitted flat against the body. Horizontal color-contrast stripes run evenly across the khaki base, matching up neatly through the side seams.
Knit care
Wash in cold water on a gentle cycle, preferably inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the knit surface and buttons. Lay the piece flat to dry rather than hanging to preserve the shoulder shape.
