We knit this short sleeve polo from a lightweight, fine-gauge yarn in solid black. The open collar drops into a neat V-neck without buttons, paired with lightly gathered sleeve caps that sit squarely on the shoulder. It hangs straight to the hip so you can leave it loose or tuck it into trousers.

What went into it
The details we cut in
Collar and open neckline
The knit collar lies flat against the neck and opens into a clean V-notch. We omitted buttons to keep the front flat and uncluttered under a jacket.
Puff sleeve construction
Short sleeves are cut with small gathers at the shoulder seam to give the cap gentle lift. The arm openings finish with fine ribbed cuffs that hold their place.
Fine gauge knit
We selected a smooth, lightweight knit with an even surface in deep black. The yarn provides light coverage for transitional weather and sits smoothly beneath layers.
Garment care
Wash in cold water inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the fine knit from snags. Reshape the collar while damp, lay flat to dry, and avoid bleach.
