We cut this sleeveless top from a lightweight plain-weave cotton in a navy and white check. Vertical pleats drop down the chest from the shoulder yoke to keep the fabric away from the body. It closes down the front with a row of small matched buttons.

The details we cut in

Collar and front placket

A neat point collar sits flat against the neckband. The narrow front placket buttons down to the hem with tonal fasteners spaced close to avoid pulling.

Chest pleats

Parallel folds stitched down each side of the placket build extra ease through the bust. The fabric falls open below the stitching to hang clean.

Cotton gingham weave
