These trousers are cut wide through the leg from a lightweight suiting twill. We built the front with twin pleats and a flat waistband with button closure, then gathered the back with elastic. Deep side pockets sit along the hip seams, lightly visible through this pale beige cloth.

What went into it
The details we cut in
Waistband and front pleats
We shaped the waist with front pleats that release into the wide leg. The front waistband stays flat with a zipper fly and button closure, while the back panel is elasticated for ease.
Twill suiting fabric
The cloth is a lightweight twill weave with a soft drape and slight stretch. In this pale beige shade, the pocket linings show faintly through the surface of the fabric.
Straight wide hem
We let the leg drop straight down to a wide, level hem. The cut hangs clear of the ankle without tapering, giving the woven twill room to move as you step.
Washing and pressing
Machine wash on a gentle cycle and skip the bleach. These trousers pack flat in shipping and take fold lines, but a quick press with a low-heat iron smooths the twill out.
