We cut this half-zip pullover from a high-pile teddy fleece with a dense, soft hand. The body hangs loose from dropped shoulders, balanced by a raised funnel collar that zips closed against the draft. It pulls on easily over base layers for cooler weather.

What went into it
The details we cut in
Funnel neck collar
The collar zips all the way up into a stand neck to cover the throat, or folds flat when left undone. A front zipper pull runs down to the mid-chest for easy layering.
Shoulder and cuffs
We set the sleeves low on the shoulder to keep the armhole roomy for heavier under-layers. The cuffs finish with enclosed elastic that gathers the fleece neatly around the wrists.
Pockets and hem
Side pockets close with zippers to secure small items on the trail. Along the bottom edge, a gathered elastic hem pulls the lofted fabric in slightly to hold its shape.
Washing and care
Machine wash on a gentle cycle in cold water to preserve the pile. Because the fleece arrives compressed from packing, steam lightly or press with a cool iron before the first wear.
