We cut this mini skort from a lightweight stretch jersey in a zebra print. The waistband sits low on the hips, while an integrated under short provides steady coverage beneath the short outer layer. A small slit at the side seam eases movement when you walk.

The details we cut in
Low-rise waistband
The waist is cut low across the hip with a wide, self-fabric band that stays flat without digging. It pulls on directly without zippers or metal hardware.
Built-in inner shorts
Beneath the outer knit shell sits a fitted under short in matching stretch fabric. The inner leg seams are finished flat to sit smooth against the leg.
Side slit hem
We finished the short hemline with a narrow turnback and added a clean side slit. This gives the lower edge room to move rather than pulling tight across the thigh.
Fabric and wash care
The stretch knit holds its pattern without going sheer when pulled. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, then hang or lay flat to dry to preserve the elasticity.
