We knit this open-front cardigan from a fine viscose yarn with an openwork crochet stitch that lets air pass through. The three-quarter sleeves finish cleanly below the elbow, and the cropped hem sits at the waist. It layers flat over sleeveless tops and light dresses without adding bulk.

The details we cut in
Openwork knit pattern
We use an open crochet stitch across the body and sleeves. The open gauge gives the navy yarn a light, ventilated structure that drapes softly instead of holding stiff folds.
Three-quarter sleeve cut
The sleeves are cut to finish past the elbow with ribbed cuffs that stay in place. The shoulder seam sits square on the natural shoulder line for an easy fall.
Open front placket
We finished the front opening without buttons, hooks, or ties. The banded edge lies flat against the chest, letting the knit drop straight down to the cropped waistline.
Cold water care
