We knit this long dress from a soft ribbed yarn that stretches as you step. The body follows close from the crew neck down through the knees, where the skirt opens into a flared hem. It is unlined and finished with short set-in sleeves.

The details we cut in

Crew neckline

The neck sits close and round with a self-knit band that lies flat against the collarbone. It keeps its shape without pulling or gaping.

Short set-in sleeves

We set the short sleeves square into the shoulder seam. The rib knit wraps the upper arm cleanly, leaving the underarm ungathered for easy movement.

Flared fishtail hem

The knit runs straight through the thigh and widens below the knee into a gentle flare. This adds weight to the bottom edge so the hem swings clear of your ankles.

Ribbed knit care

The knit has plenty of stretch and a fine vertical rib. Machine wash in cold water on a gentle cycle, then lay it flat on a towel to dry so the length does not stretch out.
