We cut this long dress from a soft ribbed knit with clear horizontal give. The crew neckline sits close, the short sleeves sit high on the arm, and the skirt flares out toward the hem to leave room for a natural stride. We dyed this run in a saturated purple.

What went into it
The details we cut in
Crew neck and short sleeves
The neckline is banded flat to sit flush against the collarbone without rolling. Short set-in sleeves keep the shoulder line neat and give light coverage through the upper arm.
Ribbed knit fabric
We chose a fine vertical rib with generous stretch across the width of the piece. The knit recovers its shape after wear, feels smooth against the body, and hangs straight when standing.
Flared lower hem
The skirt follows the line of the hips before widening out toward the ankles. That extra fullness at the base allows free movement without a slit or vent.
Care and maintenance
Machine wash on a gentle cycle in cold water to preserve the purple dye. Lay the dress flat to dry on a towel so the ribbed knit does not stretch under its own wet weight.
