We cut these wide-leg sweatpants from a fleece-backed knit that holds warmth without feeling heavy. The leg drops straight from the hip down to an open hem, giving plenty of room through the thigh and calf. A threaded drawstring lets you adjust how the waistband sits.

What went into it
The details we cut in
Wide leg cut
The straight, relaxed cut falls cleanly from the waist down through the ankles. An open hem keeps the drape loose over shoes rather than gathering at the cuff.
Fleece backing
Soft fleece lines the interior of the knit fabric to trap warmth on cold mornings. The outer face stays smooth and matte across the front and back panels.
Drawstring waistband
We finished the waist with an elastic band and a matching front drawstring. You can cinch the cord tight to wear them higher or leave it loose for a lower rise.
Deep side pockets
Two inset side pockets are sewn into the side seams to hold keys and a phone. The pocket bags lie flat against the fleece interior to avoid extra bunching.
