We cut this mid-layer from a dense, anti-pill microfleece in clear red. The stand collar sits close along the throat, and the clean neckline without a hood nests neatly beneath a rain shell. Full front zip, elasticated binding at the wrists, and a straight hem.

What went into it
The details we cut in
Collar and front zip
The stand collar rises straight from the neckline to cover the neck. We set a sturdy full-length front zipper that pulls smoothly to the top edge, creating a clean mid-layer under a heavier coat.
Pocket construction
We built six storage points into this cut. Two exterior zippered hand pockets hold keys and a phone securely, while deep drop-in internal pockets sit flush against the body to keep contents flat.
Lofted microfleece fabric
The knit is a lightweight polyester polar fleece brushed on both sides for soft loft without bulk. It resists pilling through routine use and retains its dense nap after machine washing.
Cuffs and hem binding
Elastic binding finishes the wrist cuffs and the lower hem. This keeps the sleeves in place at the wrists and secures the bottom edge flat against your trousers as you move on the trail.
