We cut this mid layer from a lightweight polyester polar microfleece that resists surface pilling. The front closes with a full length zipper right up through the stand collar. It sits cleanly over base tops or tucks under a rain shell without bulk around the neck.

What went into it
The details we cut in
Six pocket layout
We built six pockets into the body. Deep internal drop pockets hold notebooks or travel passes flat against the torso, while the outer front pockets close with zippers to secure smaller gear on the trail.
Stand collar construction
The collar stands upright when fully zipped to cover the neck without needing a hood. It stays flat against the chest when unzipped, leaving room for an outer coat collar over top.
Cuffs and lower hem
Both sleeve openings and the bottom hem finish with narrow elastic bands. These gather the lightweight fleece close to the wrists and hips so the fabric stays seated during movement.
Polar microfleece care
This soft knit fleece washes on a cold machine cycle with similar colors. Line dry or tumble dry on low to preserve the loft of the fleece and avoid snagging the teeth of the zipper.
