We cut this mid-layer jacket from a dense white polar fleece that resists pilling. The stand collar sits close around the throat without a hood getting in the way, so it slips neatly under rain shells or works as a top layer on dry days. Elastic bindings along the wrists and bottom hem keep the shape tidy.

What went into it
The details we cut in
Six pocket layout
We built this piece with six pockets total, pairing exterior zippered hand pockets with deep interior drop-in compartments. The interior bags stay flat against the body when loaded with a wallet, phone, or keys.
Stand collar and zipper
The full-length front zipper runs straight up to the top of the stand collar for throat coverage against cold air. We chose a sturdy molded zipper with smooth travel so it will not catch on the fleece pile.
Lofted microfleece fabric
The white polyester microfleece is brushed for a soft finish on both faces while remaining lightweight. It traps warm air within the fibers without the heavy bulk of traditional pile coats.
Cuff and hem finishing
Narrow elastic binding finishes the wrist cuffs and the bottom hem. The bands hold the sleeves in place over base layers and stop the lower edge from riding up as you walk or bend.
