We cut these sweatpants with a curved barrel leg that arcs out through the calf and tapers gently toward the ankle hem. The interior is brushed into a soft fleece for cold mornings. An elastic waistband with an exterior tie cord keeps the rise resting comfortably in place.

What went into it
The details we cut in
Barrel leg cut
The outseam curves through the mid-leg to build the barrel shape before settling at the hem. It leaves ample room through the thigh and knee without pooling extra cloth around the shoes.
Brushed fleece interior
We chose a knit that holds a smooth face on the outside and a lofted, brushed fleece backing on the inside. The heavier weight gives the curved leg its structured drape.
Drawstring waist
The wide waistband holds an inner elastic band anchored by rows of stitching so it will not roll. An exterior drawstring cord lets you adjust the hold at the waist.
Deep side pockets
Two open slash pockets sit along the side seams. We cut the pocket bags deep enough to hold a phone flat against the hip without pulling the front panels out of line.
