We cut this cropped jacket from a soft woven flannel in red plaid. The body is cut boxy and loose, falling to a shortened straight hem that sits above the hip. Long sleeves end in neat button cuffs, while a traditional point collar frames the neckline.

Plaid flannel weave
We select a brushed polyester flannel with a soft hand and substantial body. The red plaid yarn-dye gives clear grid definition across the front panels and back yoke.
Collar and placket
A classic fold-over collar leads into a full-length front button closure. You can button it closed as a heavy shirt or wear it unfastened as an outer layer.
Pocket placement
Straight welt pockets are set low into the front seams. They sit flush against the plaid pattern to keep the front profile flat when left empty.
Wash and press
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and hang to dry or tumble dry on low. A light press with a cool iron removes any packing creases from the brushed surface.
