We knit this long open front layer from a lightweight yarn with natural stretch and a distinct surface texture. The front falls straight without fasteners, while the ribbed cuffs finish with small gold-tone decorative buttons. Two side patch pockets sit flat against the hips.

What went into it
The details we cut in
Textured knit fabric
The yarn is spun for a lightweight body with a textured knit stitch that breathes easily. It gives the long cardigan a soft hand and enough weight to drop straight without clinging.
Open front line
We built this without buttons or clasps along the center placket. The front bands hang straight down the torso, making it easy to pull over a dress, a woven blouse, or a simple knit top.
Cuff and button detail
Each long sleeve ends in an extended ribbed cuff to keep the wrist neat. We added small decorative gold-tone buttons along the cuff edge as a quiet finishing detail.
Pockets and wash care
Two front patch pockets are stitched directly into the side seams to carry small items. Machine wash this piece cold with like colors, skip the bleach, and dry flat to hold the shape.
