We knit this cardigan from a lightweight yarn with an open front and a classic argyle pattern in grey and brown. The straight hem falls past the hips, while ribbed trims finish the cuffs and patch pockets. It layers easily over tops and tanks.

What went into it
The details we cut in
Open front and neckline
The front panels hang straight without fastenings so the cardigan stays open over base layers. Ribbing along the collar edge runs down the entire placket to keep the opening flat.
Ribbed cuffs and button detail
We finished the long sleeves with deep ribbed cuffs. Small gold buttons line each wrist above the wrist seam to anchor the shape and add weight to the lower arm.
Front patch pockets
Two open patch pockets sit on the lower front panels. The knitted rib edge matches the placket and cuffs, giving you space to rest your hands or hold small items.
Knit care
Machine wash this knit on a cold cycle with similar colours. Lay it flat to dry instead of hanging so the knit pattern and shoulder seams keep their original shape.
