We knit this open front layer from a lightweight yarn with natural stretch and a distinct surface texture. The front falls clean without fastenings, balanced by two patch pockets and ribbed cuffs finished with small gold-tone metal buttons. It packs down light and hangs straight along the hips.

What went into it
The details we cut in
Open front cut
We leave the front placket clean of buttons or zips so the cardigan sits flat and hangs straight over undershirts or dresses. The bands along the opening are ribbed to hold their shape after regular wear.
Cuffs with button detail
The long sleeves finish in deep ribbed cuffs that stay pushed up when needed. We set two small gold-tone metal buttons along each wrist seam to add weight and a neat tailored finish.
Front patch pockets
Two rectangular patch pockets sit flat on the lower front panels. We knit them with reinforced top edges so they hold small items without sagging or distorting the straight line of the hem.
Knit texture and care
The textured knit has a soft hand and enough stretch to move easily over other layers. Machine wash in cold water with similar colours and lay it flat to dry to keep the ribbing intact.
