We cut these French knicker shorts from lightweight satin with a smooth surface sheen. The fit sits low on the hips with a narrow elasticated band. Fine lace edges the entire lower hem, wrapping from the front through to the back.

What went into it
The details we cut in
Low rise waist
A thin elastic band runs through the top channel. It rests low on the hips without gathering too thickly, keeping the waist flat under loose layers or nightwear.
Lace trimmed hem
We stitched open lace along the full bottom opening. The trim circles the legs continuously from front to back, giving the hem a soft edge that hangs loose.
Satin fabric drape
The woven satin is lightweight and fluid. It falls freely around the thighs without clinging, cut short for easy movement around the house or as a light half slip.
Care and washing
Wash in cold water on a gentle machine cycle. Hang the shorts to air dry naturally to preserve the lace trim and press on low heat only if needed.
