We built this piece with an inner short layer beneath tiered ruffles. The high elastic waist stays in place with a dyed drawstring, while the loose outer hem allows full stride. It is lightweight, unlined at the ruffle tiers, and cut for movement.

What went into it
The details we cut in
Tiered outer hem
The outer skirt is gathered into soft tiers that open wide at the bottom. This allows easy movement during walking or court sports while keeping the clean look of a ruffled mini.
Integrated inner shorts
Underneath the ruffles sits an inner short cut from the same base cloth. It provides full coverage through bends and strides without adding bulk at the outer hip.
Elastic waistband and cord
The high waist holds an encased elastic band that stays flat against the waist. We added an adjustable matching drawcord at the front to secure the fit.
Washing and care
Machine wash in cold water on a gentle cycle with like dark colours, or hand wash. Hang on a line to air dry. Avoid bleach to preserve the solid black shade.
