We cut this tunic with a straight square neckline and a gathered smocked bodice that holds close through the torso. Below the smocking, the hem releases into a loose babydoll skirt. The red and white floral pattern is printed on a lightweight woven fabric that stays airy in warm weather.

The details we cut in
Square neckline and smocking
The square neckline sits flat across the collarbone. Parallel rows of elastic stitching create a flexible smocked panel that gathers the bodice, giving the top natural give across the chest before falling loose below the ribs.
Gathered puff sleeve
We set the short sleeves with gathers at both the shoulder seam and the lower cuff. The elasticated band holds each sleeve lightly in place on the arm while keeping volume through the middle.
Babydoll hem
The lower body flares outward directly beneath the smocked panel. It finishes in a clean, turned hem that hangs away from the waist and hips with plenty of room through the base.
Washing and care
Machine wash or hand wash in cold water to preserve the red floral print. Skip the bleach and hang the garment on a line to dry so the smocked elastic retains its stretch.
