We cut this babydoll blouse with a gathered square neckline and an elasticated smocked bodice that gives through the chest. Short puff sleeves finish with gentle gathers at the cuff, while the peplum hem flares loose from the high waist. A light white ground carries the multi-toned floral pattern throughout.

The details we cut in

Square neckline and smocking

The square neckline sits wide across the collarbone. Parallel rows of elastic smocking run down the bodice to hold the top close while allowing full stretch through the chest.

Puff short sleeves

Short gathered sleeves puff slightly at the shoulder before ending in soft gathered bands around the upper arm. The cut gives room through the bicep without pulling on the neck.

Peplum hem

Below the smocked section, the fabric releases into a loose peplum. The babydoll cut hangs clear of the hips, moving easily when you walk or sit down.

Fabric and laundering

We used a lightweight woven cloth printed with bright flowers across a clean white base. Wash by hand or machine in cold water, skip the bleach, and hang the garment on a line to dry.
