We cut this top from a lightweight, opaque knit fabric in deep black. The chest features set-in pleats below a simple round neckline, giving the body ease across the front. Three-quarter sleeves hit above the wrist, finished with clean hems.

What went into it
The details we cut in
Round neck and pleats
We set small pleats beneath the bound round collar. They open down the front panel to create space through the chest without adding bulk at the shoulder seam.
Three-quarter sleeve cut
The sleeve is cut straight down the forearm and ends midway between elbow and wrist. We turned back the cuff with narrow topstitching so it sits flat.
Curved lower hem
The lower edge is shaped into a gentle curve that dips lower at the front and back than the side seams. It hangs loose over waistbands without bunching.
Fabric and laundering
We used a breathable, lightweight knit with enough substance to remain opaque. Machine wash the piece in cold water and hang it up to dry, or tumble dry on low heat.
