We cut this two-piece set for warm-weather lounging in a lightweight, flexible jersey. The short-sleeve top has a deep V-neck and split side hems to keep the torso free, while the matching shorts rest on an elasticated drawstring waistband. Deep pockets are sewn directly into the side seams.

What went into it

The details we cut in

Deep V-neck and split hem

The short-sleeve top opens with a wide V-neck and drops into an unbanded hem. We added side slits at the bottom edge so the fabric parts naturally over the hips when you sit or walk.

Drawstring waistband

The shorts are built with a wide elasticated band gathered across the waist. An adjustable flat cord lets you adjust the tension, while the leg openings are cut wide for ease around the thigh.

Side seam pockets

We set deep front pockets into the side seams of the shorts. They sit flat against the hip when empty and hold small items securely without pulling the waistband down.

Fabric and laundry care

Dyed in a solid army green, the lightweight stretch jersey keeps a soft, breathable hand. Machine wash cold or wash by hand with like colors. Line dry or dry flat, avoid bleach, and iron only on low.
