We cut this two-piece set from a lightweight stretch jersey in a solid purple shade. The top has a deep V-neckline with side slits at the hem so it sits loose over the hips. The matching shorts are gathered onto a high waistband with an adjustable drawcord.

What went into it
The details we cut in
V-neck and hem slits
The top is sewn with short sleeves and a clear V-neckline that rests open at the collarbone. We added short slits at each side seam of the lower hem so the fabric falls cleanly without catching across the waist.
High drawstring waist
The matching shorts sit high on the waist, anchored with an elastic band and a matching fabric drawstring. You can knot the cord tight or leave it loose, keeping the gathered waist flat against the body.
Deep side pockets
We inset wide pockets right into the side seams of the shorts. They sit flat when empty and are deep enough to hold keys or a phone without pulling down the waistband.
Laundering and care
Wash both pieces together in cool water, either by machine on a gentle cycle or by hand. Skip the chlorine bleach and let the jersey dry flat. Use a cool iron only if needed to smooth the hem.
