We cut this matching set from a lightweight stretch knit dyed in soft light purple. The top has a deep V-neck and split side hems, while the shorts pull on with an elasticated drawstring waistband. Both pieces are built for easy rest and warm-weather wear.

What went into it

The details we cut in

V-neck and side vents

The top is sewn with a deep V-neckline that lies flat against the collarbone. Short sleeves give plenty of room across the shoulder, and side slits at the lower hem keep the fabric from bunching when seated.

Drawstring waistband

We gave the shorts a high-rise elastic waistband threaded with a matching cord. You can pull the drawstrings snug or leave them loose, keeping the fit relaxed through the hip and leg.

Deep side pockets

Two inset side pockets are sewn into the side seams of the shorts. They sit flat when empty and are cut deep enough to hold a phone or small daily items securely.

Knit care

Wash the set by hand or run it on a gentle machine cycle in cool water. Skip the bleach and use a low-heat setting if you press it, which keeps the light purple knit soft.
