We cut this two-piece set for warm-weather lounging from a lightweight jersey with generous stretch. The short-sleeve top features a deep V-neckline and open side slits along the hem, while the matching shorts rest on an elastic waistband anchored by a flat drawstring. It comes in a pale, heathered light gray.

What went into it

The details we cut in

Neckline and side slits

The top is shaped with a deep V-neckline and short sleeves that sit off the shoulder. We opened the side seams at the lower hem with short slits, letting the jersey drape loose over the waistband.

Waistband and drawstring

We gathered the shorts on a wide elastic waistband that holds its position without binding. An adjustable fabric drawstring threads through the front casing so you can tie it to your preferred tension.

Deep side pockets

Two inset pockets sit along the side seams of the shorts. We cut them deep enough to hold a phone or keys without pulling the waist down when you walk around the house.

Fabric care

This knit washes easily by hand or in the washing machine on a cool cycle. We recommend line drying or a low tumble, and suggest avoiding bleach and hot irons to protect the stretch.
