We cut this cold-weather jacket from high-pile sherpa fleece with a soft loft. The front closes with a full zipper up to a broad lapel collar. Ribbed knit finishes the cuffs and straight hem to hold the shape against drafty air. Two deep side pockets sit set into the forward seams.

What went into it
The details we cut in
Collar and front zip
A full zipper runs straight up through the lapel collar, which folds flat over the shoulder when left unfastened. The zip teeth seat cleanly without catching the deep fleece pile.
Ribbed cuffs and hem
We finish the wrists and waist with wide ribbed knit bands that hold their shape. They keep the sleeve resting at the wrist and pull the hem in slightly around the hip.
Deep side pockets
Two open entry pockets are set into the front seams for hands and small carry. The pocket bags are stitched flat inside so they do not bunch beneath the outer fleece.
Washing and loft
Machine wash on a gentle cycle and lay the piece flat in a cool spot to dry. If the fleece arrives flattened from packaging, give it a firm shake and let it hang.
