We cut this tunic with a straight square neckline and an elasticated smocked bodice that holds close through the torso. Below the smocking, the fabric releases into a loose peplum hem. The long sleeves are gathered at the shoulder and wrist to form a light puff.

The details we cut in

Square neckline and smocking

The front and back necklines sit straight across the collarbone. Parallel rows of fine elastic thread run through the bodice, giving the chest panel flexible give while keeping the cut anchored in place.

Gathered puff sleeves

Each sleeve gathers at the shoulder seam for light volume through the arm. The wrist is finished with a soft gathered cuff that stays put when pushed up the forearm.

Peplum hem

The lower panel is stitched beneath the smocked waist and flares out toward the hip. The woven fabric hangs away from the waistline, finishing in a turned single-needle hem.

Fabric and laundry

Woven from a lightweight yarn printed in a white and blue botanical pattern. Wash by hand or on a gentle machine cycle in cold water, skip the bleach, and hang the garment on a line to dry.
