We set a square neckline on a close smocked bodice that gives with movement. The woven cloth is lightweight, printed in red floral, and gathers below the chest into an easy peplum hem. Long puff sleeves finish with elastic cuffs at the wrist.

The details we cut in

Square neckline and smocking

The square cut opens the neckline cleanly across the collarbone. Parallel rows of elastic thread create the smocked chest panel, holding close through the torso while stretching easily as you move.

Puff long sleeves

We gathered the fabric at the shoulder seam to create volume through the upper arm. The long sleeves taper down and finish with a narrow elasticated cuff that holds at the wrist.

Flared peplum hem

Below the smocked section, the cloth releases into an ungathered flare. The hem falls past the waistband and drapes loose over trousers or leggings.

Fabric and laundering

The lightweight woven cloth breathes well and holds its red floral print after washing. Machine wash cold or wash by hand in cold water, skip the bleach, and hang to dry on a line.
