We cut this sleeveless layer from a thick, lofted sherpa fleece in solid black. The collar stands up around the neck to block drafts, while the front zip runs straight down to a hem that sits below the hip line. It layers easily over long sleeve shirts or heavy knit sweaters.

What went into it
The details we cut in
Collar and zip
The neck is cut with a stand collar lined in the same lofted sherpa. A full-length central zipper pulls all the way to the top edge to close the front.
Body and hem
The sleeveless cut leaves the shoulders free for layering over knitwear. We dropped the straight hem just below the hip so the fleece sits flat without bunching.
Pocket construction
Two side pockets are sewn directly into the side seams. We stitched the pocket bags flat against the inside body fabric so they do not shift or bunch as you walk.
Fleece care
The high-pile fleece keeps its loft best when washed cold on a gentle cycle. Turn the vest inside out before washing and line dry away from direct heat.
