We cut this sleeveless layer from lightweight sherpa fleece with a dense, double-faced pile. The stand collar sits upright against the neck when zipped, and the front runs straight to the hip. It pulls on easily over thick knitwear without bunching at the armholes.

What went into it
The details we cut in
Sherpa fleece build
The double-sided fleece is lofted on both the face and reverse, leaving the interior soft without an added lining. It traps warmth across the torso while keeping the overall layer light.
Stand collar and zip
A full front zipper closes the vest from the straight hem up to the top of the stand collar. The teeth run smoothly so you can adjust airflow through the neck on the move.
Armhole and shoulder cut
We kept the armholes wide to leave clear space for chunky wool sweaters, long sleeve trail shirts, or flannel. The shoulder seams sit flat without pulling backward under a pack.
Side pocket construction
Two deep hand pockets are set into the side seams to hold small items. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, then line dry to preserve the loft of the fleece.
