We cut this sleeveless vest from lightweight sherpa fleece with a dense, unlined pile that stays soft against base layers. The front fastens with a full-length zipper up to an upright stand collar that sits close around the neck. Blue and neutral plaid blocks run across the body, finished with deep side pockets set into the waist seams.

What went into it
The details we cut in
Upright stand collar
The collar stands straight when fully zipped, keeping cold drafts off the throat without needing a scarf. Unzipped, the collar wings lay flat against the collarbone across heavy sweaters or long shirts.
Lofted sherpa fleece
We left the interior unlined so the double-faced fleece touches the underlayer directly. The lofted pile traps heat efficiently while remaining light enough to sit under an outer raincoat or heavy shell.
Front zip and pockets
A smooth center-front zipper runs from the bottom hem to the chin. Two deep hand pockets sit directly in the side seams at the waist, positioned to hold daily essentials without breaking the plaid lines.
Straight finished hem
The hem is cut straight across the hip to give full torso coverage over long trousers or leggings. We finish the raw edges with clean binding that holds its shape through regular cold-water machine cycles.
