We cut this unlined rain jacket from a lightweight, quick-drying woven shell for light rain and windy days on the trail. The waist is gathered with elastic to keep the jacket close to the body, and the full front zipper seals against drizzle. In bright yellow, the thin woven fabric has a light translucency.

Hood and front closure
A three-panel hood cinches with drawstrings at the neck to stay put in the wind. The full front zipper runs all the way to the chin, backed by a storm-ready construction to keep drizzle from working through.
Elastic gathered waist
An internal elastic band gathers the waistline, setting the jacket close without extra cords. This keeps the lower hem from billowing while walking or riding a bike, while leaving room across the chest and shoulders for layering.
Pockets and pack pouch
Two deep front pockets hold keys or trail maps behind secure closures. The entire unlined jacket folds down small into its own matching carrying pouch, ready to stow in a daypack until the weather turns.

Do not run this shell through a washing machine, which can strip the waterproof coating from the surface. Wipe clean with a damp cloth or rinse in cold tap water, then hang the jacket on a line to dry.
