We cut this unlined shell from a lightweight, quick-drying woven fabric treated for light rain and wind. An elastic waistband gathers the middle, while the front zip closes clean against wet weather. It packs down into its own small pouch when the shower passes.

Hood and neckline
A high collar feeds straight into the hood, which tightens down with an adjustable drawstring cord. It stays put when the wind comes up.
Waistband and pockets
We set an elastic band right through the waist to keep the coat close to the body. Two deep front pockets sit below the gather for keys and small gear.
Unlined woven shell
The lightweight beige fabric sheds light drizzle and dries fast on the trail. Because this pale shade is lightly translucent, we leave it unlined to keep the carry weight low.
Wash and care
Wipe the shell clean with a damp cloth or rinse it with fresh water. Avoid machine wash cycles to keep the water-resistant coating intact.
