We cut this matching set from a thin, non-stretch cotton weave in purple and white stripes. The top sits straight with a banded crew neck and a hidden side zipper for pulling on. The shorts are shaped with an adjustable drawstring waistband and deep side pockets.

What went into it

The details we cut in

Crew neck tank

The sleeveless top is finished with a self-fabric binding at the rounded neckline and armholes. A hidden zipper runs down the side seam so the cut stays neat across the torso without needing elastic.

Adjustable drawcord waist

We set an elasticated channel into the top of the shorts and threaded a functional drawcord through the front. The straight hem falls mid-thigh, keeping the legs loose and easy to step in.

Side slash pockets

Two slash pockets sit along the side seams of the shorts, cut deep enough to rest hands flat. We anchored the pocket bags to the interior waist seam so they do not bunch when walking.

Washing and care

Machine wash cold with similar colours, using a mesh laundry bag to protect the zipper pull and drawcord ends. Do not use bleach. Line dry on a hanger out of direct sun to keep the cotton weave crisp.
