We cut this two piece set from a thin, non stretch cotton weave in a yellow checkered pattern. The sleeveless top closes with a hidden side zipper for a clean line across the torso. Below, the matching shorts sit on an adjustable drawstring waistband with two slash pockets set into the side seams.

What went into it

The details we cut in

Neckline and side zipper

The top has a simple crew neckline and wide shoulder straps. A hidden zipper runs down the side seam so the bodice pulls on easily without altering the clean front panel.

Checkered cotton weave

We chose a thin woven cotton fabric with no added stretch. The yellow checkered pattern is woven directly into the cloth, keeping the set light and breathable through warm weather.

Drawstring waist and pockets

The shorts pull on over the hips and secure with a matching fabric drawstring through the waistband. Two deep slash pockets are sewn directly into the side seams.

Cold wash and line dry

Wash the top and shorts together in cold water inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the zipper teeth and fabric weave. Avoid bleach and hang the set to dry.
