We cut this warm-weather lounge set from a thin cotton cloth with a dry hand and no stretch. The top is a sleeveless crewneck with a hidden side zipper to help it slip on cleanly. Below, the matching shorts sit on an elasticated waistband with a flat drawstring and two deep slash pockets.

What went into it

The details we cut in

Crew neckline and zip

The top is cut with a simple round crewneck and clean-finished armholes. Because the woven cotton does not stretch, we set a concealed zipper into the side seam so you can pull the top on without tugging at the neckline.

Drawstring waistband

The shorts rest on an elastic waist fitted with an adjustable drawstring cord. It stays flat against the front while giving you enough ease to loosen or cinch the rise as needed.

Slash pockets

We inset two slanted pockets along the side seams of the shorts. They sit flush against the hip when empty and stay deep enough to hold a key or a small phone around the house.

Launder and care

Wash cold with like colours, ideally inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the hidden side zipper and drawcord. Hang the set on a line or drying rack to dry naturally. Do not use bleach.
